Engineering Buyer
Location: Horley, Surrey
Salary: £32,000–£38,000 per annum

Guided Talent is recruiting on behalf of our client, an established manufacturing business based near Horley, for an experienced Engineering Buyer to join their team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with purchasing experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment, particularly buying components, parts, materials and engineering consumables. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining reliable supply, controlling costs and developing strong relationships with both new and existing suppliers.
Key Responsibilities

Purchasing engineering parts, components, materials and consumables to support manufacturing requirements

Liaising with suppliers to obtain quotations and secure competitive pricing

Negotiating prices, lead times and commercial terms with suppliers

Raising and managing purchase orders through to delivery

Monitoring stock requirements and ensuring materials are available when required

Developing and maintaining strong relationships with existing suppliers
-
Identifying and evaluating potential new suppliers where required
-
Monitoring supplier performance, delivery times, quality and pricing
-
Working closely with production, engineering and other internal departments to understand purchasing requirements

Resolving supply, delivery and pricing issues efficiently

Helping to identify opportunities for cost savings and purchasing improvements
Skills & Experience
Our client is looking for candidates who can demonstrate:

Previous experience in a Buyer, Engineering Buyer, Purchasing or Procurement role

Experience purchasing parts, components, materials or engineering consumables for a manufacturing business

Good commercial awareness and confidence negotiating with suppliers
-
Strong communication and supplier relationship management skills
-
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple purchasing requirements

Good attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
-
Competence using purchasing, ERP or MRP systems would be advantageous
-
A good understanding of manufacturing or engineering environments
