Engineering Buyer – Great Gransden | Manufacturing | Up to £42,000

Salary: Up to £42,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Guided Talent is recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established and growing machinery manufacturer based in Great Gransden, for an experienced Engineering Buyer. This is an excellent opportunity to join an innovative manufacturing business where you'll play a key role in ensuring the efficient procurement of engineering components, raw materials and production supplies.
Working closely with engineering, production and suppliers, you'll be responsible for sourcing high-quality materials at competitive prices, managing supplier relationships and ensuring stock availability to support manufacturing schedules. This role would suit an organised and commercially minded buyer with previous experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities

Source and procure engineering components, raw materials and manufacturing consumables.

Negotiate pricing, lead times and supply agreements with existing and new suppliers.

Raise and manage purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery of materials.

Monitor supplier performance, quality and delivery metrics.

Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to support business growth.

Work closely with production, engineering and planning teams to meet manufacturing deadlines.

Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or delivery.

Maintain accurate purchasing records and supplier information within the ERP/MRP system.

Resolve supplier issues, shortages and delivery delays efficiently.

Support continuous improvement initiatives across the purchasing function.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:

Previous experience as an Engineering Buyer, Technical Buyer, Purchasing Officer or Procurement Specialist within a manufacturing or engineering environment.

Strong knowledge of engineering components, materials and manufacturing processes.

Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills.

Experience using ERP or MRP systems.

Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills.

Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

A proactive, collaborative approach with excellent communication skills.
