Field Service Engineer – Automated Systems
Location: Sheffield / Rotherham
Salary: £35,000 Basic salary. Up to £50,000 OTE including overtime & callouts
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Overview
Guided Talent is recruiting for an experienced Field Service Engineer to support a growing engineering operation across the Sheffield and Rotherham area. This role focuses on the installation, maintenance, and repair of automated access and security systems across varied client sites.
This is a highly varied position offering strong earning potential and long-term development for the right engineer.
Key Responsibilities
- Service, repair, and commission automated systems on customer sites
- Respond to breakdowns and scheduled maintenance visits
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and control system faults
- Complete digital service documentation and reports
- Carry out site surveys and technical assessments
- Participate in on-call rota and reactive support
- Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and customer service
Skills & Experience
- Apprenticeship-trained engineer or equivalent field service background
- Proven experience in fault finding and installation work
- Ability to work independently in a mobile role
- Strong customer-facing communication skills
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable Experience
- Electrical qualifications (3-phase, 18th Edition, 24V systems)
- PLC or control systems exposure
- Automated gates, barriers, bollards, or similar equipment
- Hydraulic or pneumatic systems
- Welding or fabrication background
- CSCS or recognised H&S training
