Field Service Engineer – Automated Systems
Location: North / West London (Luton / Watford area)
Salary: £35,000 Basic salary. Up to £50,000 OTE including overtime & callouts
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Overview
Guided Talent is recruiting on behalf of a specialist engineering business seeking a Field Service Engineer to cover the North and West London region. This is a hands-on, site-based role working with automated access and security systems across a variety of client locations.
The role offers strong earning potential through uncapped overtime and callouts and would suit an engineer who enjoys varied work, autonomy, and technical problem-solving in the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Fault finding, repair, installation, and commissioning of automated equipment
- Carry out servicing, PPMs, and emergency breakdown response
- Complete electronic service reports via tablet or mobile device
- Conduct site surveys and compile clear technical reports
- Liaise professionally with customers and internal teams
- Participate in out-of-hours call-out rota
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with H&S procedures
Skills & Experience
- Time-served apprenticeship in electrical, mechanical, or controls engineering preferred
- Field service or mobile engineering experience essential
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capability
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a wider team
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable Experience
- 3-phase electrics, 18th Edition, or low-voltage control systems
- PLC controls experience
- Gates, barriers, bollards, blockers, or turnstiles
- Hydraulics, pneumatics, or fluid systems
- Welding or fabrication experience
- CSCS, CCNSG, SSSTS, or SMSTS (training provided if required)
