About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join a well-established company that manufactures special purpose equipment. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on individual with mechanical fitting experience to become an integral part of a dynamic engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling and fitting various components, working with a range of tools and machinery to ensure the highest standards of precision and quality.
Key Responsibilities

Mechanically assemble and fit components for special purpose equipment

Operate pillar drills, hand tools, reamers, taps, and other relevant tool room equipment with competence and attention to detail

Follow engineering drawings and technical instructions to ensure all parts are fitted accurately

Perform routine maintenance and upkeep of tools and equipment

Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety regulations and company procedures

Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment

Work closely with other team members and department supervisors to meet production deadlines

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the department

Complete all relevant documentation, including work orders and timesheets
Key Skills & Qualifications

Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter or in a similar hands-on mechanical role

Strong experience operating pillar drills, hand tools, reamers, taps, and other tool room equipment

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals

Good understanding of mechanical assembly processes and techniques

Knowledge of health and safety practices in an engineering or manufacturing environment

Excellent attention to detail and precision when working with mechanical components

Strong organisational skills and the ability to work efficiently and independently

NVQ, HNC, HND, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (desirable)
