Toolmaker (Manual Machinery)
Location: Near Derby
Salary: £21.60 per hour + £1.56 per hour shift allowance
Shifts: Rotating Double Days
Our client, a well-established and growing manufacturer based near Derby, is looking to recruit an experienced Toolmaker to join their skilled engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity to work for a business renowned for producing high-quality products, where precision craftsmanship and attention to detail are highly valued.
Working on a rotating double-day shift pattern, you will be responsible for manufacturing, modifying and maintaining tooling using a range of conventional manual machinery. This role is ideal for an experienced Toolmaker who takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality components and enjoys working within a busy manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manufacture precision tooling and components using manual machine tools.
- Operate conventional machinery including manual lathes, milling machines, surface grinders and other workshop equipment.
- Modify, repair and maintain existing tooling to ensure optimum performance.
- Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications to produce components to tight tolerances.
- Inspect finished components to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Work closely with production and engineering teams to support manufacturing requirements.
- Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment.
- Follow company quality and health & safety procedures at all times.
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience as a Toolmaker within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Strong experience operating manual machine tools.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- A recognised engineering or toolmaking qualification would be advantageous.
Shift Pattern
This position operates on a rotating shift basis:
Week 1
- Monday to Thursday: 6:00am – 2:00pm
- Friday: 6:00am – 1:00pm
Week 2
- Monday to Thursday: 2:00pm – 10:00pm
- Friday: 2:00pm – 8:00pm
